Is a Kneel Chair a Good Ergonomic Chair?
The kneel chair is fast establishing itself as the future of personal seating. The kneel chair is an office chair that has no back, and places the user in a modified kneeling position. The design encourages good posture by sliding the hips forward and aligning the back, shoulder and neck.
Primary support is from the seat of the chair, with additional support coming from the shins. This type of ergonomic chair distributes the weight between the pelvis and the knees, which reduces spinal compression, and therefore reduces the stress and tension in the lower back and leg muscles. The kneel chair has a forward slanting seat that leads to a more natural position for the spine. The result is an office chair that makes sitting in the proper position feel comfortable and effortless.
The kneel chair distributes body weight evenly and aligns the spine in a balanced position, thus placing less strain on your back, neck and shoulder muscles.
We sit because we're seeking weight relief for our legs - some for the upper part of the body, and a certain amount for the lower back. Traditional chairs were made with this in mind but such a design creates enormous stress on the back. They're restrictive and encourage you to slouch, while sitting itself throws out the natural curves of the spine - resulting in discomfort and perhaps long term disability. A kneel chair overcomes these limitations of traditional chairs and offers the user complete relief for the strained muscles.
Simply, your body needs to be supported more by your muscles - not by its skeletal structure. Abdominal muscles have to work in order to hold the lower spine in correct posture. The kneel chair encourages a greater use of these muscles, and distributes body weight evenly and aligns the spine in a balanced position, thus placing less stress and strain on your back, neck and shoulder muscles.
Generally, the kneel chair distributes body weight between the seat and kneel pad to minimize pressure points. It comes in all steel tubular frame for durability and has manually adjustable seat/height angle.
If you work at the keyboard for multiple hours daily, it is advisable to swap in
a regular ergonomic chair so as to obtain relief for your thighs.
The kneel chair helps keep the spine in its natural "S" alignment,
provides real comfort for moderate periods of time,
helps relieve the buttocks from hours of sitting pressure,
provides an alternate to the standard chair position which changes pressure points and improves circulation.
CONCLUSION
The kneel chair provides more comfort for people with constant back aches than traditional chairs. It serves to take some of the stress away from the lower spine by transferring the load through the thighs into the kneeling pad. It is ideal for people with spinal problems and who need less pressure on the spine.
